The flavors start off bright and fruity showing classic Coyote Canyon characteristics. There are some tropical fruits mixed with softer peach, stone fruit flavors, and aromas. The acid is popping and the finish is crisp and delicious.
2021 was a very interesting vintage. We started off the spring nice and easy. Temperatures slowly warmed and the grapes were developing nicely. In late June we had a heat spike that impacted the rest of the vintage. Triple-digit temperatures for over 45 days ended up slowing berry development resulting in a smaller crop load. The flavors from this vintage are intense. The wines are going to drink great in their youth, loaded with fruity flavors. The tannin and acidity in the grapes are going to help them age gracefully as well.
Albariño has always been one of my favorite wines to make from the Coyote Canyon Vineyard. Grown in one of the warmer sites the flavors have a nice combination of tropical and citrus flavors.
This vintage we picked early September and fermented the wine in a stainless steel tank. A small portion of our concrete fermented Albariño was blended to add more texture and a touch of Roussanne to add some roundness.
