2021 CCW Viognier

2021 CCW Viognier

Delicate and provocative, the aromatics start with white peach, floral notes, and then some spice cuts in. The flavors follow suit with peach, Bosch pear, light honey suckle, and surprisingly tangly crisp finish. A slight sweetness is noticeable at the start but is replaced with citrus notes from the acidity.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A slight hue to color gives it the look of a wine with some volume. Violets and floral notes mix with white peach in the aromas. The flavors are fruity and smooth with just enough kick to give the finish a little zing.

Vineyard Notes
2021 was a very interesting vintage. We started off the spring nice and smooth. In late June we had a heat spike that impacted the rest of the vintage. Triple digit temperatures for over 45 days ended up slowing berry development, resulting in a smaller crop load. The flavors from this vintage are intense. The wines are going to drink great in their youth, loaded with fruity flavors. The tannin and acidity in the grapes are going to help them age gracefully as well.
Winemaker Notes
Our Viognier is like a sleeping giant, you might forget about it sometimes, but when you taste it you are impressed. It has some citrus notes but leans more to ripe peach with a touch of floral. A hint of sweetness is balanced by rather high acidity for a Viognier. I love working with the fruit form this vineyard. The grapes were machined harvested and fermented in a stainless steel tank. I mixed the tank a couple of times during aging to help add more body to the wine. After six months of aging the wines was filtered and bottled.
