The color is dark red with a lighter crimson color at the edge. The aromas start off a little smokey and oaky, then some red fruit comes through along with some light herbal characteristics. The flavors are rich, ripe red fruits, some caramel and coffee. A full bodied red with a nice long finish.
The start of 2020 was wet for Eastern WA standards. Winter had average snow fall and the spring had enough rain to get growth off to a good start. The summer was long and hot with near perfect growing conditions. We started harvest in early September and continued until late October.
This is a unique blend that we came up with, a little bit on accident to be honest. We were pressing our Syrah and Graciano on the same day and ended up combing a part of the pressed wine. Both of these varietals have great color and richness. As the wine aged over the next year in continued to be one of my favorite lots in the cellar. Our Artist series wine reflect what we feel is some of the best and most unique wines to offer. I decided to blend the two barrels with some of our Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine will really shine in 5-10 years, but it is going to be hard to wait that long.
