2018 H/H Estates Artist Series Petit Verdot

2018 H/H Estates Artist Series Petit Verdot

The color is dark blood red. Toasted coffee beans, dark red fruit, and peppercorn aromas. The wine starts off with soft and juicy, cherry notes, and dusted chocolate giving way to some spicy notes. The tannins have a tingly feeling and last long after the last sip. The wine is rich and full-bodied and has great balance and a smooth finish.

Winemaker Notes
This year the Artist Series returned to Petite Verdot. The concentrated flavor really packs a punch. The artwork is another beautiful painting of Marti’s. Marti inspired the first bottling and we continue to showcase her artwork on the label. Petite Verdot is an intense wine, it has a deep dark color, acidity and tannins. This vintage is showing beautifully for such a young wine. This wine is just a baby and needs a few more years to really open-up. The wine has a lot going on. The grapes for this wine were machine picked and delivered to the winery for fermentation. We started the fermentation in tank then transferred it to our concrete tank to finish up. The concrete helps soften the wine. The fermentation took about 2 weeks. The wine was then pressed and aged in French oak barrels. After 22 months of maturation in oak barrels the wine was filtered and bottled.
