Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This wine has an apple, lemon, hay, almond paste and tropical note unique to the Coyote Canyon vineyard site. The thick skins contribute to the rich aromatics. Flavors of mild lime, star fruit and peach combine for a mouthwatering experience complemented with a nice zippy finish. Off dry style with just a touch of sweetness this is a splendid example of warmer climate Albariño from the Horse Heaven Hills AVA in Washington State.

Winemaker Notes
Coyote Canyon Vineyard was the first vineyard in Washington State to plant Albariño grapes back in 2006. This exciting Spanish grape varietal is a rarity in Washington State but is starting to gain a cult status. Albariño originated in Spain and continues to be a major player in wines from Northwestern Spain where they are primarily used in Rias Baixes blends. 2016 was a unique growing season, it started off wet and hot but tapered off during the summer months. We anticipated a hot vintage so we left a larger crop on the vines to help slow down ripening. The wine was handpicked and fermented in a stainless-steel tank. After fermentation, the wine was left to age on its lees for a few months prior to filtration and bottling. This is 100% Our vineyard showcases how well Albariño can grow in Washington State. I love this wine on its own but think it pairs well with fish or creamy dishes. The acidity on the finish gives the wine a refreshing component that makes it a great food wine.
