Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Beautiful red color with spicy notes, red fruit and oak. The flavors are big and bold for a Mourvedre. Dried fruit, leather, and classic black pepper on the finish. The fruit balances the spicy finish.

Vineyard Notes
2015 was the warmest vintage in Washington State. Each season trended on the hot side and when it was all said and done, we were setting all kinds of records. The spring was warm and mixed with a little rain set the crop up great for the season. The summer started hot and just kept on getting hotter. We were prepared for this since the 2 previous vintages were warm, but it still pushed things along quickly. Some white grapes were picked in early August and our reds started in early September. This vintage is showing a lot of big fruit characteristics.
Winemaker Notes
Mourvedre is one my favorite obscure varietals to make. It is gaining more popularity as a varietal but is more common in blends. I love it from warm sites which is why I like to work with ours so much. It does taste best when it is super ripe and can tend to carry a high alcohol but that is the way it seems best. I’m still learning and changing my approach with this varietal and think each vintage gets a little better. I’m lucky to work with such forgiving fruit.
