Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Dark red color greats you when pouring a glass of this Barbera. Aromas of oak, Blackberry, Marionberry, baked pie and mild spice. This vintage is packed with flavor. The hot year led to big fruit notes. Flavors hit you with darker notes than last year. A medium to full bodied wine that hits high on the palette. The finish is long and smooth with soft chocolate flavors and oak

Winemaker Notes
This is the 4th vintage of Barbera wine made at Coyote Canyon Winery. We love making this wine. I love the way the Barbera grows at the vineyard. Having the opportunity to pick some early for our Rosé allows me to get a good feel for what I want when we pick it for the red. I continue to like blending a little Merlot into the final blend, this vintage is higher than usual, but it gives the wine more mid palette and finish.
The grapes were handpicked and delivered to the winery on October 22nd. Once at the winery they were destemmed into one-ton fermenters. The wine was inoculated with yeast and spent about 3 weeks on its skins while finishing primary fermentation. After fermentation the wine was put into French oak barrels. It took about 18 months for the wine to mature and develop the flavor profile I was looking for. At that point I did my blending trials and added the Merlot to add complexity and round out the mid palette. We made 148 cases of this wine.
