Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Blackberry, tar, earth, light oak, and spice notes great the taster. The bold flavors from the Graciano dominate the blend. It starts off juicy and fruity but gives way to a unique blend of acid and tannin. Some Chocolate notes mingle with oak creating nice balance and length. This wine should age gracefully for 8-12 years.

Vineyard Notes
2014 was a hot vintage in Eastern Washington. Coyote Canyon Vineyard had an early spring that led to early bud break.  The summer was hot, but consistent. The temperature didn’t get into the triple digits often and the grapes were able to ripen at a nice pace. When fall arrived, the white wines were picked early, but a cooling trend allowed most of the reds extra hang time to fully develop their flavors. All of our grapes are handpicked and fermented separately, so each varietal gets  a chance to shine. After fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18-22 months. Blends are made after 12 months so the wine can fully integrate before bottling.
Winemaker Notes
I love making the Michael Andrews red blend. 2013 was my first vintage working with Graciano and I have really enjoyed making it. The color is so dark and aromas unique making it fun to play with. Tempranillo has always been a delicious wine to drink for me, the high acid and light body make it an easy drinking wine. Blending these two varietals together really add nice complementing characteristics. With the hot year of 2014 the big red fruits characteristics really shine through. Having the higher acid level of the Tempranillo keeps the wine in balance. This should age nicely for years to come. Graciano has great tannin structure that should help the ageing..
