Vineyard Source: Coyote Canyon Vineyard AVA: Horse Heaven Hills Grower Degree Days: 3164 2014 Vineyard Review 2014 was a hot vintage in Eastern Washington. Coyote Canyon Vineyard had a great vintage and the crop turned out exceptional. Summer was hot but we didn’t have a to many days over 100 degrees which allowed the crop to ripen at a nice even pace. When Fall arrived the grapes were ready a few weeks ahead of schedule. The red grapes were handpicked and then de-stemmed at the winery. We are pleased and excited to share the wonderful wines from the 2014 vintage with all of you.
Winemaker Notes
This is our second vintage of Artist Series Petite Verdot and looks like it has found a home in our lineup. Marti inspired the first bottling and we continue to showcase her art work on the label. Petite Verdot is a great blending wine but certainly deserves to be showcased on its own. I feel like this wine will age gracefully for the next few years and should be cellar worthy for at least 10. We only made 2 barrels of this wine which created 45 cases. The grapes for this wine were handpicked. After receiving them at the winery I destemmed them into 1-ton fermenting vessels. The fermentation took about 12 days and the wine was left on its skins a week after that. The wine was then pressed and aged in French oak barrels. After 22 months of maturation in oak barrels the wine was filtered and bottled.
