2014 CCW Sangiovese
Horse Heaven Hills AVA
September 20th, 2014
June 30th, 2016
Dark red plum colored. Aromas of herb, chocolate, tobacco, light Bing cherry, vanilla and mild oak blend together nicely. After opening more oak and sweet cherry aromas come out. The wine is medium bodied with a touch of acid up front and a nice smooth finish. The Cabernet adds some nice tannin and complexity to the finish. A nice dried strawberry quality with a light chocolate and leather finish. The finish also has a little spicy quality that adds some depth and length to the wine.

I love Sangiovese and went a little more Tuscan style with this vintage. The grapes were picked a little early because of the hot season but had great flavor and balance. The alcohol is pretty much right where I was hoping it would finish, 14.2%. Cabernet Sauvignon was added to the blend to add a little more tannin and finish to the wine. This vintage has great flavor and a smooth finish.
