2014 CCW Grenache
Horse Heaven Hills AVA
June 30th, 2016
Not your typical light easy drinking Grenache, this is big and bold. Leather, spice, dark red fruit and oak tones are noticeable. The flavor profile starts with raspberry and dried cherry flavors and has a nice crisp finish. Medium body with a lighter finish than anticipated when first tasting. This wine has length and structure.
This is the first Grenache wine I have made at Coyote Canyon and I am excited to show how complex and versatile this varietal can be. I am already busy thinking about how I can make this wine better but am trying to be pleased with my first results. Sometimes as a winemaker it is hard not to think about what might have been or how to make improvements and just enjoy the results. I like the mouthfeel and texture of this vintage but want to make it more delicate in the future. Some great fruit and spice notes are definitely noticeable, and the length of the finish is very pleasing. This is just a look at things to come. I think this wine will get better with a little age. It is certainly a hedonistic play on Grenache. I hope you enjoy this wine.
