2013 H/H Estates Bozak Red
Horse Heaven Hills AVA
October 26th, 2013
Big and luscious, this wine truly is a mouthful. A deep dark red color lets you know right away this wine is going to be something special. Hints of licorice, currents, spice and oak are noticeable early but the wine continues to release earthy tones, chocolate, oak and tea leaf. The flavors are an intriguing mixture of blueberry jam, oak, herbs, black pepper and chocolate. Robust tannins give the wine a long rich finish. This is a wine made to age and should get better with time.

2013 was a hot season which was great for our Port wine. We were looking for intense flavors and high sugar content and 2013 did not disappoint. This was one of the last things we picked in 2013 and both the Syrah and Graciano were around 27 brix. I ended up blending some Port from 2011 (the Mourvedre portion) and 2013 together to make the final blend. The 2011 portion had more oak complexity and when mixed with the 2013 which had more of a fruity nose the blend just seemed to work.
