Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
This exciting, fresh, Spanish grape is a rare variety in WA and Coyote Canyon Vineyard was the first in the state to plant this grape.
The 2013 Albarino has nice ripe aromas of pear and hints of starfruit. Medium to light bodied the initial taste feels big and rich but is quickly balanced by crisp acidity. The alcohol adds a little spiciness that balance all the lush fruit. Slightly creamy finish lingers and shows nice depth and balance. A great sipping wine or pair with fish, spicy food or lighter pasta dishes.
Winemaker Notes
I was very excited to get to work with Albarino when I joined Coyote Canyon. The 2013 Albarino is vibrant and floral and was very fun to make. The grapes were all handpicked and then whole cluster pressed into a stainless steel tank. The wine was fermented at a cool temperature to keep more aromatics throughout its fermentation. Tropical notes accompanied the more traditional aromas during fermentation before calming down into a well-rounded wine. Mostly dry this wine is great in hot weather and pairs nicely with spicy dishes.
