Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Amazing aromas of berries, earth and oak great the taster when first smelling this wine. The aromas open up and tend toward earthy and meaty components with milder fruit and oak. The flavor profile mirrors the aromas, at first a nice bright bing cherry tastes comes through only to be coated with caramel and oak notes. The finish shows some leather notes a nice bit of tannin. True to the site and the Horse Heaven Hills the tannins have a unique dusty quality to them that adds complexity to the wine.
Winemaker Notes
Cabernet Sauvignon from the Horse Heaven Hills is one of the most sought-after wines from Washington State right now and we are proud of how our wines stack up to the competition. 2012 was a slightly cool growing vintage for Washington and the wines reflect that in their profiles. A little more refined than our hot vintages these wines should age very well. I like the idea of bottling a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon but couldn't help but add a little bit of Mourvedre to the final blend. I believe this wine should age nicely for the next decade. Pair with Filet Mignon.
