Vineyard Notes
2023 was a unique vintage. We started the season late as a cool spring led to delayed bud break and flowering. The early season was several weeks behind and it looked like it might be a challenging vintage. Lucky for us the summer quickly warmed up and provided us with our second warmest season on record. The steady heat allowed us to catch up and start harvest in early September. The white wines had great flavors, ample acidity and perfect ripeness.
Winemaker Notes
I love making our Rose out of Barbera. It has been fun refining the style and it feels like we have hit our stride the past few vintages. We machine harvest the grapes and then press them directly to tank. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged on its lees for a few months to help build a little more body in the wine. After that it is pretty simple, cold stabilize the wine, filter it, and then bottle.
